The Emperors Palace National 2YO Sale of 2012

By Sarah Whitelaw August 04 2012

Friday sees the beginning of the 2012 Emperors Palace National Sale. The sale continues on Sunday, when it also concludes. It takes place at the TBA complex in Germiston.

The National 2yo Sale has a long history of producing champions at bargain prices.  The likes of top international performers J J The Jet Plane, River Jetez and Irridescence are just a few of the big names to have graduated from the sale. Another big name to have been bought at the 2yo Sale was champion 2yo filly Rock Opera – now the dam of G2 winning UK 2yo Heavy Metal.

Other top-class horses to have been purchased at the National 2yo Sale include recent G1 Gold Cup runner up Princess of Light, dual G1 winner and July favourite Jackson and former Equus Champion 3yo Colt, The Apache.

This year, 379 horses have been catalogued for the two day sale. There are a wide range of pedigrees on offer, and this sale caters to all buyers.

Many of the country’s top breeders have horses on sale, and the majority of South Africa’s leading sires have lots on offer.

All of Captain Al, Dynasty, Jallad, Jet Master, Kahal, Silvano, Trippi, Western Winter and Var have 2yos on sale.
With the late Jet Master capturing his sixth sires title recently, there will be plenty of interest in his two lots on sale.

There are also youngsters by promising young sires such as A P Arrow, Admire Main, Argonaut, Ashaawes, Jay Peg, Judpot, Kildonan, Rebel King and Sail From Seattle, to name a few.

One of the star lots on the sale could be lot 208, who is consigned by Highlands Farm. This filly is the only lot by world leading sire Tapit on offer, and she should attract plenty of interest.

Other international sires with offspring on sale include Amadeus Wolf and Mount Nelson, both G1 winning descendants of the mighty Danehill.

The catalogue is currently on line at www.tba.co.za.
