Mountain High sires first winner between flags
4th March, 2013COOLMORE National Hunt stallion Mountain High got off the mark with his first point-to-point winner when his first-crop son Mountain Tunes landed a four-year-0ld maiden between the flags at Tyrella on Saturday. Mountain Tunes, trained by Cian Hughes, scored by five lengths in the 3m contest between the flags. He had finished a promising third in a Punchestown point-to-point on his debut last month. Although marketed as a National Hunt stallion, has already provided a winner under Rules as his son Fujiyama Danon scored last year on the Flat in Germany at the age of three. Mountain High was trained by Sir Michael Stoute for Coolmore to win the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud at five. In the race he beat the likes of Mandesha, Prince Flori and Youmzain. The 11-year-old son of Danehill was bred by Ballymacoll Stud out of its star broodmare Hellenic, who also produced Group 1 winners Islington and Greek Dance. Mountain High stands at Beeches Stud at a fee of EUR2,000.
