New Zealand - the land of limestone continues to produce results on the track. In the words of the famous Bull Hancock of Claiborne Farm, Kentucky...."Dig for gold where it has been found before...." In this case the buyers believe that it is New Zealand.
We would like to share some recent success stories from across the Tasman. Recently sold to Australia and Asia, directly from the Gavelhouse website are:
'Yamanin Vital' gelding was sold to Victoria and is heading to a leading Caulfield stable by Martin Cleland of Sir James Lodge in Cambridge. The progeny of Yamanin Vital are hard to find and he is a significant source of stayers (just like his sire Sir tristram) so it is no wonder this 3YO in pre training was snapped up. His dam-line is full of good broodmare sires, like Desert Sun, McGinty and Arch Sculptor. With a dearth of stayers in Australia, it is natural that buyers look to New Zealand and Gavelhouse.

2YO chestnut gelding by 'Scardee Cat', solt to Malaysia by Fran Barcham from Stoneyfields Farm in Canterbury. This racy type, hails from a black type family. The grand dam won at Group 3 level. An interesting pedigree pattern too with a double cross of the mighty Vain. The progeny of Scardee Cat (a group winner by Tale Of The Cat who won the Ascot Vale Stakes) are winning in Australia/New Zealand and showing promise in Asia. This gelding's owners were delighted with the response they received to their advertisement - the purchaser was Greg Zarra from Australiasian Bloodstock Agency.

'Lord Of Warriors' yearling colt; recently sold to Singapore by Nigel Johnston from Kinship Lodge in Christchurch. He is a lovely style of colt from an underrated sire, who raced at the highest level in HK. His dam by stud success Manntari, won 2 races and comes from a black type family of Zilla and Tuscanos. The breaker gave such a favourable report that the Singapore buyers jumped in.
