Filly Charging Forward to Jolly

Charge Forward is a young sire that Richard Jolly has a lot of time for. With two fillies under his care that Jolly has a nice opinion of he was not going to let the daughter of Shelbey walk out of the Inglis auction ring without having a bid on her, and, when the auctioneer's gavel fell and Peter Heagney uttered the words "sold to the South Australian stable of Richard Jolly", was he able to sigh a breathe of relief.

Jolly, feels he brought well, recalling, "she ticket all the criteria 'boxes' that I find works for me and I was more than happy to sign the sales docket."

"I have a lovely filly in the stable named Draw Forward, by the same sire, and she has won three races already and has nice ability.

"I think this filly, has a similar physique and will offer any potential clients some nice residual too as she is free of Danehill, and, Northern Dancer in her tabulated pedigree...and the page has plenty of depth to it as well," Jolly said.

A nice filly, with the right physique, great rear-end, for a reasonable price especially when other fillies by the young sire had sold earlier in the sale for $200,000 and $120,000 and although Jolly had to wait to near the end of the famous Easter Yearling sale at the Newmarket sales complex Jolly was happy.

Only 11 years-old Charge Forward, is proving to be a good source of racehorses along with two winners at the highest level in Headway and Response on his 'cv'.

Coincidentally, both are fillies, another reason, why Jolly wanted to look at Charge Forward's fillies at the sale.

Charge Forward is the sire of seven stakes winners and nine stakes placegetters, and, has 106 individual winners from 188 starters, that's a starter to winner ratio of 56.4%.

In the last week of September, Charge Forward's daughter Urban Groove (ex Morton by Flying Spur) claimed the Listed Reginald Allen Quality (1200m) at just her second career start and kept a perfect winning record intact. Another daughter, Cavalry Rose (ex Alberton Rose by Danske) finished fourth in that race.

The following day, Balaclava Lady (ex Deep in the Woods by Danewin), broke her maiden status in the hotly contested MRC TMB Printing Handicap (1400m).

Charge Forward is by Red Ransom (by Roberto), a stallion that has 104 stakes winners world-wide and on his 'cv' is the former Australian Horse of the Year (2009-10), Typhoon Tracy (ex Tracy's Element).

A winner at two, Shelbey is a half-sister to the very good galloper Barkada (by Spectrum) winner of the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes. Since being retired to stud Shelbey has produced two live foals this filly and Allbeit (by Way of Light).

Allbeit (by Way of Light) has given his connections many thrills clocking up eight wins.

Shelby has an impressive bottom half to her pedigree page with the Group 1 winner Strawberry Fair (by Whiskey Road) appearing as the great grandam, who in-turn is the dam of the South African Scottsville Oaks winner, Taineberry (by Centaine).
