Stakes Winning Sire by ENCOSTA DE LAGO.

A handsome son of leading Australian sire Encosta de Lago, Cecconi was a A$460,000 yearling at Sydney Easter and proved to have excellent ability during what can only be described as an interrupted career, due to an outbreak of Equine Influenza in Australia which saw racing suspended in many states of Australia.

Trained throughout his career by leading conditioner David Hayes, Cecconi raced solely in black type events as a 2YO and recorded a win in the Listed Blue Diamond Preview and first four finishes in the STC Pago Pago Stakes Gr.2, VRC Sires Produce Stakes Gr.2, and the Merson Cooper Stakes LR; while in a handful of starts as a 3YO he was Group 2 placed in the MVRC Bill Stutt Stakes over 1600m.

Cecconi has been represented by several runners to date on the track including the John Wheeler trained Lumiere Blue and black-type perfomer Precious Sophia. Lumiere Blue was impressive when winning at Te Rapa to break maiden status, and then followed up his win with an eye-catching run in the Group 3 Taranaki 2YO Classic over 1200m.

The Graeme & Debbie Rogerson trained Precious Sophia is the first of Cecconi's progeny to record black-type when running second in the Listed Wellesley Stakes at Trentham, while a gallant effort in the Karaka Million event saw her competitive with the best juveniles in the country.

Cecconi has also been making his presence felt in the sales ring having topped the 2012 Festival Sale fetching the top price of $70,000. The 2012 Karaka Yearling Sales saw Cecconi's progeny sell up to $70,000 - 15 times his service fee - and average nearly $40,000 overall.

The 2012 Ready to Run Sale also saw his stock sought after with two individual two-year-old's fetching $85,000 and $55,000 respectively.
