Mr. Nancho | Brown Entire (2000)
GR.1 Winner, GR.1 Sire by Champion Sire 'Southern Halo'.
Mr Nancho is a son of Champion South American stallion SOUTHERN HALO, the latter well-known as the sire of Champion Australian first crop sire MORE THAN READY. Mr Nancho is a full-brother to multiple Group/Grade 1 winning Argentinian Champion filly MISS LINDA (a real flyer) as well as to the high-class performer Miss Mary, and is out of a Stakes-winning dam in Miss Peggy.
He carries a sole female line of Northern Dancer so should ideally suit mares with multiple male lines only of Northern Dancer and is totally free of Mr Prospector.
He also carries three sex-balanced lines of Bold Ruler. Like Danzig, he traces tail female to the Family 7 matriarch Miss Slammerkin.
In 5 starts as a 3 year old in Argentina, Mr Nancho won 3 times, twice at Stakes level with a notable feature being his 16 lengths demolition of his rivals in the GR1 Premio de Palermo 1600 metres, defeating a field that included 6 Group1 performers and being crowned Argentina’s Champion Miler in the 2003-4 season.
Considered good enough to tackle top Company in the USA, Mr Nancho was very narrowly defeated in his debut at Saratoga and suffered a mysterious career-ending leg injury immediately afterwards.
At Stud in New Zealand Mr Nancho has made an immediate impact leaving the very talented Gr1 winner Nacho Man ( Manawatu Sires’ Produce Stakes ) as well as winning the Listed Matamata RC Slipper Stakes from his first crop. Other promising racetrack progeny include the GR2 placed Maradona as well as Nancho Bella, Margarita Time, Te Mata and Batista with the vast majority of his progeny carrying the stamp of their sire’s own very impressive robust physique.
