Swiss Ace | Bay Entire (2004)
GR.1 Oakleigh Plate Winning Sire
The global dominance of the Australian sprinter has been well documented in recent years and no stallion roster would be complete without a Group 1 winning Australian sprinter among their lineup. In 2010 Westbury Stud acquired the exciting sprinter Swiss Ace to fill just this role and the horse brings an impressive formline to his new role.
The winner of 9 of his first 11 starts, Swiss Ace included an impressive barrier-to-post victory in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate and backed up in the VRC Newmarket Handicap at Flemington just 14 days later, only to go down narrowly to the World's Champion Sprinter of that year in Scenic Blast. The Oakleigh Plate has long been recognized as one of Australia's best tests of speed and with an honour roll which includes Starspangledbanner, Fastnet Rock, Snitzel, Kenvain, Snippets, and company it is not hard to understand why it is regarded as a stallion making race.
Swiss Ace made a favourable impression amongst trainers an buyers alike with the first of his yearlings offered selling up to $160,000 at the 2013 Karaka Yearling Sales in January.
Swiss Ace was dominant in the market providing the top selling lot on each of the final three days of selling, of which included the highest ever priced Festival yearling to sell ($125,000) to Graeme Rogerson Bloodstock. His average for the Festival session equated to $46,000, while his Select session average returned an exciting $51,500 - five times his advertised service fee of $10,000 in his first year at stud.
Prominent buyers in the stock of Swiss Ace included; Go Racing Ltd (Albert Bosma), John Bell, Graeme Rogerson, Lisa Latta, Tony Pike, Dean Hawthorne, Matt Laurie, Barry Lee Bloodstock, Lance Noble & Stephen Autridge. Swiss Ace was also represnted at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale in Janaury where leading Victorian trainer, Peter Moody, purchased two individual yearlings by Swiss Ace.
