Why am I unable to create an ad?
You must first register as a member of the Gavelhouse website to enable you to create an ad. Register Now!
I don't have a computer, can I place an ad?
Yes you can. Please refer to No Computer - No Problem under the Buyer & Seller Help tab for full instructions.
How long does it take for my ad to appear online?
Once you have created your ad it will be emailed to Gavelhouse for proofing. We will ensure every detail of your ad is perfect and contact you if there is a problem. This process generally takes 2-3 days. Your ad will appear online as soon as it has been approved.
How long does my ad appear online?
As a special introductory offer, your ad will remain online until sold or until you remove it. If removed, it will be saved to your “Cancelled Ads” in your account.
Can I include symbols or alphabet (e.g. Make an Offer) where I am requested to enter the price for my thoroughbred?
Yes you can. To advertise your horse online, you must submit a price for your thoroughbred or insert the words "Make an Offer". Submitting a price is a much more effective way of securing a suitable buyer and avoiding unnecessary inquiries, however Gavelhouse understands that some sellers may not wish to submit a price and has therefore made provision for text to be used in place of numeric.

Digital Photos
Photos taken by a professional are worth the cost and Gavelhouse highly recommend you engage a professional photographer. A quality digital photo of your horse will optimise your listing for the best results. If you are unable to use a professional photographer, a minimum 2 mega pixel camera set at the highest quality would be preferred (See below for more information). Your photo should:
• be in landscape orientation
• have a neutral background
• fill the frame so you can see the entire horse

How do I prepare my photo for upload?
The image should be saved as a JPEG with a filename ending in ".jpg". The image should be approximately (400 pixels) on its largest size. When saved, the file should be less than (5MB). We only allow uploading of JPEG images.
I don’t know how to make my photo look right. Can you help?
It helps to have a good, sharp photo to start with but you can improve the images somewhat. Where possible, use Adobe Photoshop to crop, lighten and sharpen to make your horse look its best.
How do I upload my horse image and logo?
Step 3 of Creating a New Ad is to upload a horse photo and logo. You should know where to find the images on your computer. Most image editing and camera programs will put your images in your MY PICTURES directory. Simply click on “browse” to select the relevant image to upload. To attach your company logo, click on “browse” to select or tick the box to indicate “Private Sale”, which will appear in place of a logo.
Can I put more than one photo on an ad?
No, Gavelhouse only has provision for one digital photo per ad.
How do I forward a Veterinary (VET) Examination or Valuation Report to you?
Step 4 of Creating a New Ad is to attach or forward a VET Examination or Valuation Report to Gavelhouse to appear with your ad if desired. To upload, please click in the check box to select the type of report you will be providing. A Browse button will appear for you to select the relevant report from your computer.
If you do not have the equipment to scan the documents and are unable to attach the relevant report/s by yourself, kindly forward them to Gavelhouse by email to info@gavelhouse.com or by fax on +61 3 9499 2416 and we will be happy to attach it to your advertisement for you.
